Live and exclusively on MYWEBSPORT.COM: Which players are the best of the season and will be the 2021/22 Home Tour kings?

Blog entry from 2022-05-19

The battle for the overall rankings of the €10,000 Royal Pro Home Tour 2021/22 is about to be decided. There are only two more tournament weekends to play in the current sports season. Next Saturday and Sunday, competitions 17 and 18 of a total of 20 will take place in the current Home Tour circuit, these are also the last two team competitions. The big season finale with the last two singles competitions will follow in two weeks. Austria's Andreas Efler (three cushion) and Dutchman Ernst-Jan Driessen (five pins) have the best cards for winning the discipline rankings. Both ranking leaders are at the start with their teams next weekend. With a good result, Driessen could de facto secure victory in the five pins overall ranking. The situation is different in the three cushion season ranking: Calculated in terms of loss points (deletion results), Efler and Georg Schmied are almost level at the top. The duel for the three cushion crown will be decided in a showdown in the very last round.

Tournaments and broadcasts on both days start at 10:00am. All live streams and live scores are provided free of charge on our live sports platform MYWEBSPORT.COM/LIVE:

The three cushion tournament on next Saturday is played in round robin mode as a Scotch Double team tournament with second chance. In this mode, both players from both teams play a match together. The matches are played in the 3 Points Open End system on 3 winning sets (best of 5 sets), the players of a team take turns after each shot. Second chance means that the teams are allowed to repeat each missed shot once - so they get a second chance to continue their runs. The other team player carries out the repetitive shot. The 3 points open end system works as follows: Current runs are never interrupted when the set distance is reached, but always played to the end. As soon as a team has at least 3 points in a set, that set is "sharp". Then the opposing team must at least equalize this score with its next inning in order to stay in the set. The set is played until a team can no longer meet the requirement "equalize or overtake" and thus loses the set. These are the participating teams of the three cushion competition and their playing venues:

  • Team Heineken: Riml, Jimmy / Nordmann, Friedrich (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Team MP Solutions: Erdtner, Mario / Volger, Pirmin (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Team Power Turtles: Efler, Andreas / Gajs, Zoran (Hinterbrühl, Austria)

In the five pins tournament, the matches are played in double mode to 100 points. In this mode, both players from both teams play a match together too. The players of a team take turns when the opposing team has scored points or when their own team has committed a foul. These are the participating teams of the five pins competition and their playing venues:

  • Team BC Basel: Antonazzo, Cosimo / Steiner, Ernesto (Basel, Switzerland)
  • Team Ernst-Jan's Base Camp: Driessen, Ernst-Jan / Wolfs, Marco (Helmond, Netherlands)
  • Team Heineken: Riml, Jimmy / Plattner, Manuel (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Team MP Solutions: Ofner, Frank / Volger, Pirmin (Innsbruck, Austria)
