After a 7-month absence, Luca Marzio Garavaglia is returning this weekend to the Royal Pro Home Tour, an international prize money tournament series that is played online via the MWS system at various MWS locations worldwide. The Italian has always won on the tour whenever he participated. In total, he currently holds 8 tournament wins (7 singles, 1 double) out of 8 competitions. It goes without saying that Garavaglia is the top favorite for the title next weekend. In addition to the motivation to knock the king off the throne, what speaks for his challengers is that every series, no matter how successful, has to tear itself apart. The participants of the five pins tournament and their playing venues:

  • Driessen, Ernest (Turek, Poland)
  • Driessen, Ernst-Jan (Helmond, Netherlands)
  • Garavaglia, Luca Marzio (Desio, Italy)
  • Ofner, Frank (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Sparer, Peter (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Steiner, Ernesto (Basel, Switzerland)

In the three cushion tournament, a three-way battle for the title is expected between Home Tour record champion Andreas Efler, the current leader of the Home Tour ranking 2021/22 Georg Schmied, and the multiple Bavarian champion Roman Bachmaier. Efler currently has 9 triumphs (3x three cushion singles, 3x three cushion doubles, 3x five pins singles) since the very first tournament of the Home Tour series on 01/01/2021, and is 1 success ahead of Garavaglia. The participants of the three cushion tournament and their playing venues:

  • Bachmaier, Roman (Regensburg, Germany)
  • Efler, Andreas (Hinterbrühl, Austria)
  • Erdtner, Mario (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Riml, Jimmy (Innsbruck, Austria)
  • Schmied, Georg (Rosenburg-Mold, Austria)

Both competitions - three cushion on Saturday, five pins on Sunday - start at 10:00am and are expected to last until around 6:30pm. The three cushion tournament is played in round robin mode, the matches are played in the 3 points open end system on 4 winning sets (best of 7 sets). The five pins competition is also held in round robin mode, the matches are played on 2 winning sets (best of 3 sets) of 50 points each.

The Home Tour overall ranking 2021/22 consists of a total of 20 tournaments, 10x three cushion and 10x five pins each. The tournaments are played alternately as singles and doubles. A separate ranking list is kept for each discipline, there are 2 deletion results per player and discipline. The Royal Pro Home Tour Series 2021/22 is endowed with a total of €10,000. Competitions #7 and #8 out of 20 will take place next weekend, 12 competitions or 6 tournament weekends will follow, the next one on January 29/30 (2x doubles). More on this in the sports dashboard.
