In fact, the old season never ended because we play tournaments all year round. It's just a bit quieter overall in the summer months. The Three Cushion Summer Cup prize money tournament by and with MWS coach Georg Schmied is currently running until September 24th. Home Tour record champion Andreas Efler is currently in the lead with 24:0 match points and an AVG performance of 1.497. Calculated according to loss points, Berlin's Norbert Röstel (17:3 match points, AVG 1.225), Zurich's Kenan Canturk (20:4 match points, AVG 0.995) and Erlangen's Tay-Dien Truong (19:5 match points, AVG 1.074) currently still have a chance of winning the tournament.

The Home Tour series for individual tournaments in the three cushion and five pins disciplines will be continued with the extablished concept. The Home Tour competitions are played over a period of several weeks, with free agreement on the match dates. The Tour is played for prize money, the amount of which varies from tournament to tournament depending on the number of participants. The next Home Tour dates are:

  • Five pins tournament heat #5 starting on 18th September, registration deadline is on 17th September.
  • Three cushion tournament heat #5 starting on 2nd October, registration deadline is on 1st October.

Tournaments of the Home Tour series, like all MWS individual tournaments, are included in our ELO rankings, which are kept separately for all disciplines. The ELO ranking list is a continuous and dynamic evaluation system with the aim of describing the playing strengths of the players as objectively as possible. For this purpose, the existing ranking list points of the players are related to each other according to a certain key in order to calculate the ranking list points to be awarded in a match.

If a better ranked player plays against a lower ranked player, then the first-named player can win fewer ranking points in a win than lose in a defeat. If a lower ranked player plays against a better ranked player, the first-named can win more ranking points in a win than lose in a defeat. Our ELO rankings are also endowed with prize money, the prize money pot is paid out after every three tournaments entered.

New to the MWS tournament calendar is the Team League, a league competition for club teams. The first edition of the Team League starts in October with the discipline five pins. This is something special insofar as there are various leagues and tournament formats for three cushion teams in the billiard world, but comparatively few tournament offers for five pins teams. Therefore, our Team League should celebrate its premiere in the discipline five pins. Subsequently, the constitution of a three cushion Team League is planned.

The Team League is played in league mode with a subsequent play-off, in which the title is then awarded. This means that a basic round robin heat is completed first, from which the four best teams advance to the play-off. The play-off consists of two semifinals and the grand final. The best team after the basic round meets the fourth best, the second best team challenges the third best in the semifinals.

The first edition of the Team League is played with one match round only (without rematch round), as the teams play their matches with the MWS system from their home locations and therefore every match is a home game. Each duel consists of a single 150 point match played in relay format with three players per team (3 x 50 pts). Each team consists of three regular players who do not have to play at the same MWS location. At least one regular player per team must be used in each match. The next Team League dates are:

  • Five pins league cycle #1 starting on 2nd October, registration deadline is on 24th September.

Our range of tournaments is supplemented by the MWS Players Club, which, in addition to the worldwide networking of players, also offers the opportunity to play freely configurable ranking list matches in all disciplines and match modes at any time and as desired.
